Ubi Sunt is a virtual library of videos and photographs produced by the partners and collaborators of the Saint Francis and the Americas/San Francisco y las Américas project. Examples include video clips and documentaries produced at Arizona State University and by California mission researchers Professors Anupama Mande and Khédija Gadhoum; slide shows; and hundreds of original photographs taken by project research teams in Europe, Latin America, and the United States. We will include interviews with noteworthy individuals as well as documentation of pertinent events and subjects of interest.
Ubi Sunt surely will continue to expand, and persons interested in the project should check it out periodically for new material.
Entries organized in Ubi Sunt include the following:
• Original video on the depiction of St. Francis, footage taken at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli and the Porziuncola on 3 October 2010, and clips and of various Franciscan-related locales in Italy, Spain, and the Americas, including the United States.
• Slide shows from a variety of sources.
• Original photographs of numerous Franciscan people, places, and topics of interest. These photographs are wide-ranging. In the Italy section are photos from sites such as the Isola San Francesco del Deserto in the Venice lagoon and the mountain town of Gubbio, where St. Francis reconciled with the wolf. The United States section provides photographs from St. Augustine’s Mission of Nombre de Dios and the Shrine to Our Lady of la Leche on the East Coast to the historic missions of California, such as San Juan Bautista and San Luis Rey de Francia, and the newest Franciscan structures such as La Porziuncola Nuova, which is part of the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi on Vallejo Street in San Francisco.
